Oil Ranch

Today, we visited the Oil Ranch because it was Madi and Caleb's good friend, Connor's birthday. It is always a good day when the kids can run and play outside and then crash when they get home.

The State Fair of Texas

Okay, so every year for my birthday, we make the trip to Dallas for The State Fair of Texas. This year, we met both of our families out there and ate way too much food. Caleb and Madi had a blast hanging out with grandparents, aunts and uncles, and cousins. They got to pet Elsie, the cow, and drank some yummy milk. I think we toured every building, as we do every year, and loved every minute of it.

Flip-Flops and Bows

Okay, so on Saturday, we had Madi's 4th birthday party with her friends. Oh gracious, did we have a great time. The theme was flip-flops and bows (for those who haven't seen Madi's shoe collection, she had more than all of us combined :) ). We had a pink and green tablescape with the food on it. Each little girl (and their mother) was supposed to bring a pair of flip-flops to decorate with ribbons, bows, and bling. The moms helped with the hot glue and the girls provided the ideas. Once they finished decorating, we painted toe nails and wore toe rings. (Of course, the moms participated as well) Each little girl went home with a personalized goodie tin. The tins consisted of a headband bow, some lip gloss, a comb and mirror, and cookies and candy. We had a great time!!!! I am a little concerned how we will top this party next year!

Happy 4th Birthday, Madison!!!!

Wednesday, 9-17-08, Madi celebrated her 4th birthday. Last night, we had a mini birthday party and Madi got a really cool doll house. Chris and Caleb put it together and after an hour and a half, Madi finally had a house to play with.

Ike Clean-up

All day Monday we spent at our house cleaning up the debris that Ike scattered in the yard. Chris and his dad chopped up branches and we all piled them at the curb hoping some nice person would haul them away for us. Our next door neighbor came over with a chainsaw and helped Chris remove the very large tree branch off of our roof. We ripped up carpet in the bedroom, swept the driveway and porch areas, and raked the yard.

Today, we are home with electricity and internet access. What a joy it is to have lights and a washing machine. :)
